Peer Support Certification Training

The Peer Support Program offers assistance and support to employees and their family members in time of personal need or following physical or emotional trauma. The objectives of the program are to minimize psychological trauma that employees and their families may experience throughout their career; and render assistance in an attempt to accelerate normal recovery to abnormal events, some of which are unique to a law enforcement environment. It does not replace professional help.

This Certification Course is a 72-hour class wherein participants are taught and trained in the skills proven to help others in crisis re-establish control and chart a path toward resolution. They are taught how to recognize the signs of reactions to a critical incident. They are taught the skills of responding in a manner that can minimize the potential for long-term, negative effects of the event. Application to be certified as a Peer Support Member and participation in the program is voluntary. All activities within the program are collateral.
